Cleaning fans ‘swear by’ Asda staple for whitening greying clothes

Cleaning enthusiasts have shared their go-to method for whitening clothes that have turned grey – and it’s not bleach.

While most people may turn to bleach or other whitening products to wash white laundry, cleaning fans suggested using a germicidal in-wash stain remover – Napisan.

Natalie Di-Pede asked the Facebook group, ‘Cleaning tips and tricks’: « This has probably been asked before lots of times, but can anyone suggest the best whitening stuff for washing whites that have gone a bit grey and the best thing to get stains out that have been washed and still haven’t come out? Thanks! »

The post was inundated with responses from fellow cleaning enthusiasts. The most suggested solution was to use Napisan which costs just £4.50 from Asda, Tesco and Morrisons.

Natasha Fox said: « Napisan is great, soak for a couple of days if stained then wash. »

Gillian Myers Price commented: « Napisan. Home Bargains and Tesco. On the baby care aisle. Soak in a bowl/bucket overnight.

« It works wonders on white trainers too. Oh, and line dry in the sunshine. The sun takes all kinds of stains out. »

Dawn Harris wrote: « Napisan is great for whites. »

Emma Chadwick agreed and said: « I swear by using Napisan in white and lights. »

The stain-remover claims to remove germs and stains from clothes, even at low temperatures.

Other suggestions from Mrs Hinch fans included using Glowhite, Ace Bleach and Astonish Oxy Active Plus.

Katie Johnson-kerr said: « I use Glowhite and leave it in to soak for two to three days then wash them. »

Iola Edwards replied: « For stubborn stains, Astonish Oxy Active Plus powder. Pink/blue tub. »

Anne Springthorpe commented: « Ace Bleach for whites. It is brilliant. »
