Petrol & diesel drivers must display sticker or risk travelling fine

Brits have been warned that they risk a fine if they don’t fit their vehicle with a Crit’Air emissions vehicle sticker when travelling in France during holidays.

Without the sticker, which indicates a car has met Clean Air Zone requirements, motorists face a penalty of £58, which rises to £155 if not paid within 45 days.

Vehicles not registered in France still must display the sticker whenever driving on the country’s roads.

Former Olympian Kriss Akabusi told GB News: “My experience on the continent is that they will fine you on the spot, and you have to get the money.

“I remember once I was going from Germany into Belgium, got fined, and didn’t have the money on me.

The disc-shaped stickers arrive in five to ten days and are grouped into six categories based on their overall emissions.

Least-polluting vehicles, such as electric cars, are handed a green sticker and can be driven more freely.

Motorists with more polluting vehicles will be forced to display a dark grey badge and could be restricted or banned altogether.

You must apply a Crit’Air emissions sticker to the right-hand side of your car’s windscreen.
