Motorists are facing travel chaos on the M3 this afternoon after a road sweeper overturned, causing a diesel spillage which has left motorists severely delayed.

National Highways confirmed the ongoing incident on social media platform X, writing: « New incident on the M3 westbound between J2 #M25 J12 and J3 #Bagshot #Surrey. Road closed due to an overturned road sweeper and large diesel spillage as a result. Expect delays. Further updates to follow. »

It is not clear whether there have been any injuries as a result of the overturned vehicle.
