There are long delays on the M1 Southbound in South Yorkshire between junction 31 (Worksop) and junction 30 (Chesterfield) due to lane closures in place to repair a carriageway defect.

Lanes two and three are closed for emergency carriageway repairs, while a lane one closure is already in place for long-term planned roadworks.

Lane four is the only lane open past the scene.

There are delays of 90 minutes above normal travel time with approximately six miles of congestion.

National Highways has advised road users to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra time and consider alternative routes if possible.
