Greggs ‘hit by IT glitch’ days after Tesco meltdown with all UK stores closed | UK | News

Greggs has been forced to shut its bakeries today due to technical issues. Customers have flocked to social media to express their shock, as local stores up and down the country have closed their doors.

Stores in Cardiff, Manchester and London were among those affected, with the issue thought to be more widespread.

One unhappy customer said on X, formerly Twitter: « Hey, why are all the greggs stores shut in Cardiff with temporarily closed signs on, but staff are inside baking? What time will they be open today? »

Another said: « Greggs in Westminster closed. Problem with tills. Is this Nationwide or just local? »

One customer replied: « Greggs closed in Manchester, this will cause a riot. »

There were some reports of chains having to go cashless, meanwhile another seemed to suggest the tills are not working entirely: « All tills across UK @GreggsOfficial are down! Only click and collect available. »
