Chaos as Aintree Asda forced to close over police incident | UK | News

A UK Asda store was forced to close due to an overnight burglary.

The Aintree Asda was shut for several hours after emergency services raced to the scene earlier this morning.

An Asda spokesperson told the ECHO that the store on Ormskirk Road was closed while forensics investigators worked at the site.

The Asda spokesperson said: “There was an incident at our Aintree store overnight which meant we were unable to open our stores first thing this morning. This has since been resolved and the store is back open as usual. We would like to thank our customers for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Express.co.uk has contacted Merseyside Police – a statement is expected shortly.

Earlier, Echo reporter Andrew Nuttall reported from the scene: « Staff are stood outside in the rain as customers arrive only to be turned away. The person we spoke to said that they ‘didn’t know’ when people would be allowed in. »
