Hounslow fire: Family of five, including children dead in horror London house blaze | UK | News
Five members of the same family including children have died in a fire in west London after a house went up in flames.
Only one man managed to escape the raging inferno in Hounslow after it first broke out on Sunday evening (November 12).
He has been rushed to hospital, while another person remains unaccounted for.
Once firefighters managed to enter the property on Channel Close, they found a further five people on the first floor of the home, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
Horrified neighbours heard a man screaming after running out of the burning building, shouting « my kids, my kids ».
70 firefighters battled the blaze from 10.26pm, bringing it under control by 1.25am this morning.
Dileep Singh, 54, told the Evening Standard how he raced from Manchester to Channel Close where his brother in law was at home with his wife, three children and two adult guests.
« I received a call and came as soon as I could with my wife we are desperate for information, » he said.
« My brother in law is alive but I don’t know what has happened to everyone else.
« We are desperate. I was told the fire came from outside from a bin. We are going to the hospital to try to get more information. »
Ruth Cadbury, MP for Hounslow, has said that children are among the five who died in the fire.
Posting on X (Formerly Twitter) the politician said: « I am devastated to learn this morning that 5 people, including children, died in a fire in a house in Hounslow last night.
« My thoughts are with their family, friends neighbours. »
Neighbours said the family, who were letting off fireworks just hours before to celebrate Diwali, had only just moved to the area from Belgium.
London Fire Commissioner Andy Roe offered his condolences following the tragedy.
He said: “This is a terribly sad incident and the thoughts of all of us at London Fire Brigade are with the family, friends and all those affected at this difficult time. »
Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, responsible for policing in Hounslow, said: « My thoughts are with the loved ones of those who very sadly lost their lives in this tragic incident.
« I don’t underestimate the impact that this will have on the wider community and beyond. I understand that there will be a demand for answers and my officers are working to establish exactly what has happened. »
Fire crews from Heston, Southall, Twickenham, Hayes, Feltham and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The Met confirmed that nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution after the fire broke out at the Channel Close home.
