How to remove limescale from toilet without scrubbing for 37p

It’s easy to forget about limescale in the toilet, as it’s not so obvious to the eye until it starts to become unsightly.

But wherever there’s water, there are naturally occurring minerals that can lead to a build-up of residue, causing limescale.

For those who live in hard water areas, their toilet is regularly going to be affected by limescale as it’s constantly full of water.

Unsure of a solution to their toilet cleaning dilemma, one Mrs Hinch fan turned to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks Facebook page for advice.

Posting anonymously, the user shared a photo of their toilet bowl covered in brown limescale buildup with the caption: “Please don’t judge me.

“I have tried so many things on this toilet, limescale removers, bleach, white vinegar, a bottle of coke but nothing is shifting it. I hate it and want a nice white toilet again. Thank you in advance.”

A lot of bleach products will only make the limescale stains appear white, but the limescale will remain.

To “completely” remove it, group members have offered up their suggestions. Most of them claimed that the Harpic Power Plus Active Tablets that come in black packaging were the solution.

Michell Murdock said: “Black Harpic tablet, throw one in and leave it overnight, no scrubbing needed.

“I drop them in before bed, Don’t use that toilet at all, leave the tablet to do its thing overnight, then in the morning give it a little brush and flush and it’s like new again.”

Sue Hall wrote: “Harpic tablets are the best but if it still doesn’t get those marks off I put rubber gloves on and use a sponge with a soft scourer on the other side. The pan is 100 percent spotlessly clean.”

Annise Marr said: “Harpic Power Plus toilet cleaner tablets! The best!” Sharon Cieciala wrote: “Harptic tablets are the only thing I’ve found gets rid of that completely.

“It’s limescale from living in a hard water area. Happens to my son’s toilet. One Harpic tablet left a couple of hours gets rid of it completely with no scrubbing needed!”

Demi Morgan agreed: “Black Harpic tablets, I swear buy them. No scrubbing required either. »

Tracey Webb commented: “I swear by the Harpic tablets, leave in overnight and I promise it will be gone. My neighbours’ was really bad and the toilet now looks as good as new.”

A pack of eight Harpic Power Plus Active Tablets can be picked up from Amazon for £2.99. This works out to 37p per tablet.
