Max Verstappen’s best lap is only good enough for third, with Charles Leclerc fourth ahead of Fernando Alonso and George Russell.

Lewis Hamilton scrapes into Q2 in 12th place but it’s a different story for Daniel Ricciardo, who is knocked out in Q1 at the Australian Grand Prix for the first time in his career.

There are only 19 drivers taking part, with Logan Sargeant sitting out after Williams opted to give his car to Alex Albon following the latter’s crash in practice on Friday.
