Goalkeeper – Onana

Altay Bayindir’s sole United appearance came in the previous round, a 4-2 win away at League Two side Newport County.

But Andre Onana will retain his starting status, as he has done in every single game for which he has been available outside of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Defence – Dalot, Maguire, Evans, Lindelof

Ten Hag faces a dilemma in defence, with Raphael Varane highly unlikely to start three games in the space of nine days and the final outing in that period a trip to Manchester City on Sunday.

So the experienced Frenchman could drop out for Jonny Evans, who would partner Harry Maguire at the heart of the back four.

Diogo Dalot is United’s only fit full-back once again, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia sidelined through injury.

So he will start at right-back, with Victor Lindelof potentially continuing his unfavoured role as an emergency left-back – a clear weakness against Forest’s pace.

Midfield – Casemiro, Mainoo, Fernandes

United’s midfield should remain unchanged from the Fulham defeat despite Casemiro’s injury scare, when he left the Old Trafford pitch bleeding after a clash of heads.

Ten Hag confirmed the Brazilian was fit in his pre-match press conference, meaning he is in line to keep his place at the foot of the midfield three.

Kobbie Mainoo will be one of the first names on the Dutchman’s team sheet now, and it would now be a surprise to see him drop to the bench for Christian Eriksen or Scott McTominay.

Bruno Fernandes has something to prove as United captain after inheriting the armband permanently in the summer. He will be desperate to lift the FA Cup this season.

Attack – Antony, Garnacho, Rashford

Omari Forson replaced the injured Rasmus Hojlund against Fulham but struggled to make an impact as part of a poor United performance.

Ten Hag will be without Hojlund again at Forest, so he once again has a decision to make. Antony’s only start in the last eight games came against Newport County in the previous round, where he registered his only goal and assist this season.

But Ten Hag defended the 24-year-old ahead of the game, and he could be given the nod ahead of Forson and Amad Diallo tonight.

Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford are almost certain to start. Both need to step up and deliver when United’s chances arrive.
