Christian Horner cleared of inappropriate behaviour allegations as Red Bull speak out | F1 | Sport
Christian Horner has been cleared by Red Bull after an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behaviour. The 50-year-old, who has spearheaded the drinks company’s F1 operation since 2005, will be allowed to continue his role as team principal ahead of the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend.
A spokesperson for Red Bull said: « The independent investigation into the allegations made against Mr Horner is complete, and Red Bull can confirm that the grievance has been dismissed. The complainant has a right of appeal.
« Red Bull is confident that the investigation has been fair, rigorous and impartial. The investigation report is confidential and contains the private information of the parties and third parties who assisted in the investigation, and therefore we will not be commenting further out of respect for all concerned. Red Bull will continue striving to meet the highest workplace standards. »
Red Bull’s Austrian HQ recruited an independent barrister to lead the investigation after allegations of inappropriate and controlling behaviour were brought against Horner by a female employee.
Horner, who strenuously denied the allegations from the start, was reportedly grilled for up to eight hours at an undisclosed location earlier this month. He then continued his Red Bull duties by attending the RB20 launch and overseeing three days of pre-season testing in Bahrain.
The barrister concluded his investigation at the end of last week, handing a report of over 100 pages to the board of Red Bull GmbH, who consulted over Horner’s fate.
