Lando Norris claimed that he ‘wants to see Fernando Alonso win a race’ ahead of last year’s Spanish Grand Prix, as revealed by the latest season of Netflix’s Drive to Survive.

The two-time world champion’s last victory came over a decade ago.

Alonso’s early performances in 2023 combined with the significant development gains experienced by Aston Martin over the winter created hope that for the first time in over a decade, fans would soon see Alonso take to the top step of the podium again.

Norris was among this crowd. Asked for a pre-race prediction at the 2023 Spanish GP, the McLaren star responded: « Pre-race prediction? I’m going to win. Yeah, I’m going to win. » The 24-year-old was then asked: « And if it’s not you, » to which he responded: « Fernando. I want to see Fernando win a race, you know. Who doesn’t? »
