Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea have no-brainer transfer decision as £15m bids to flow in | Football | Sport

The leading Premier League clubs might have struggled to land their top targets in January, but a very affordable option for the summer is currently starring in the Bundesliga. The likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea were all linked with big money moves for strikers, but all three clubs were seemingly hampered by FFP regulations and failed to bring in a solution to their forward problems.

United boss Erik ten Hag publicly admitted it was “no secret” that the financial situation at Old Trafford prevented him from pursuing targets, with the new investment from Sir Jim Ratcliffe yet to be made available to the Dutchman. Chelsea also were tipped to trigger the £103million release clause of Victor Osimhen, but Mauricio Pochettino seemingly needs to offload stars before he can buy big again.

The Gunners, meanwhile, are long perceived to be lacking a prolific goalscorer as they again bid for a first Premier League title since 2003/04. But an expected move for Brentford star Ivan Toney never materialised, with the Bees reportedly seeking a three-figure fee for their key man.

All three clubs however, could do far worse than examine the form of Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy. The Guinea man has been in prolific form in the 2023/24 campaign, scoring 19 goals in 16 games in all competitions this season.

And transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now alerted clubs to a potential bargain, saying that his release clause of just £13.2m will be valid again in the summer. Romano claims Premier League clubs are already showing interest in the Stuttgart centre-forward and that bids are expected in July.

Guirassy now has 33 goals in 44 games for the German club since his move from Rennes, initially on a season-long loan before his switch became permanent last summer. January speculation, however, was diluted by him travelling to the Ivory Coast with Guinea for the AFCON tournament, with his country reaching the quarter-final before losing 3-1 to DR Congo.

It isn’t just the star’s goalscoring feats that should be catching the eye of England’s leading teams though. Guirassy is also currently showing an ability to hold the ball and link up with his midfielders, able to keep attacks moving even when he himself is not around the box.

And given their current financial circumstances, it appears a no brainer for the likes of United, Arsenal, and Chelsea to make a low-cost move rather than risk potential sanctions. Guirassy would almost certainly strengthen all three squads, and the fee on offer would not represent an expensive gamble if he struggled to replicate his form in Germany.

At 27, he also has a number of productive campaigns ahead of him, which means it’s not just Europe’s top clubs who should consider a bid. His previous domestic experience in France could lead to PSG weighing-up a transfer depending on what transpires with Kylian Mbappe.
