Man Utd news: Sir Jim Ratcliffe ‘has sack agreement’ with Glazers as Ten Hag sweats | Football | Sport

United were two goals down within half an hour at home to high-flying Villa, as boos rang around Old Trafford at the sight of another Andre Onana mistake and a woeful effort to defend a corner.

With Ten Hag already under pressure after a string of poor results, he delivered one of the most important half-time team talks of his United career. Crucially, his players responded, as a brace from Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund’s first Premier League goal sealed a dramatic 3-2 victory and gave the Dutchman some breathing room.

He can’t relax just yet, however, as The Telegraph claim that Sir Jim already has a say on whether or not he is sacked, despite a wait of several more weeks for the Premier League to sign off his 29-per-cent share purchase.

The current hierarchy at Old Trafford are believed to support Ten Hag. But during negotiations with the Glazers, Sir Jim demanded to be consulted on the former Ajax manager’s future in case senior figures change their tune.

The INEOS chief is set to assume control of United’s sporting operation from the Glazers despite owning a lower percentage of the club. It is currently unclear whether Sir Jim envisions a change of leadership for the Red Devils.

Jadon Sancho remains banished from the first team after a falling-out with Ten Hag, while fellow big earner Raphael Varane has also been linked with a move away. It remains to be seen how Sir Jim’s input affects both players’ future.

United reportedly want a striker, a centre-back and two midfielders by the end of next month, but Financial Fair Play restrictions could scupper the Glazers and their new minority counterpart’s plans.
