Woman, 27, dies after being stabbed at train station | UK | News

A woman who was allegedly stabbed at a football stadium train station in the Midlands has tragically lost her life – as her heartbroken family pay a devastating tribute.

British Transport Police reported that Rhiannon Skye Whyte, 27, was found with « injuries consistent with being stabbed ». Despite being rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, Rhiannon tragically died three days later after the alleged late-night attack. The horror took place at Bescot Stadium, Walsall, where emergency services were called to an alleged « serious assault » just after 11.25pm on Sunday, October 20.

Deng Cholmajek, of Bescot Crescent, Walsall, was initially charged with attempted murder and was remanded in custody following his appearance at Walsall Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, October 22. Detectives are now expected to amend the indictment to a charge of murder.

Rhiannon Skye Whyte’s family said: « The most loved daughter, compassionate sister, loving aunty, gracious granddaughter, beautiful niece, wonderful cousin and devoted friend.

« The most selfless person – you were brave, quirky, funny, and always there for anyone who needed it. There is not enough paper in the world to even begin to write a tribute for you, but no one deserves it more. The weird thing about this devastating loss is that we now need to navigate life without you, but how? »

Cholmajek is due to appear next at Wolverhampton Crown Court on November 19, reports BirminghamLive, where the charge of attempted murder could be revised.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Attwell, from British Transport Police, said: « We have specialist family liaison officers supporting the victim’s family and our thoughts remain with them at this incredibly difficult time. »

He added: « I would like to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident and an 18-year-old man has now been charged and remanded in connection.

« We are not seeking anyone else. »

Anyone with information is urged to contact British Transport Police on 0800 405040 or text 61016 quoting 11 of October 20.
