Burnt human body found on football pitch as officers descend on grounds | UK | News

The body of an unidentified individual with burn marks has sparked a huge police investigation. The grim discovery was made on a football pitch, with the alarm raised by members of the public this morning.

The pitch, in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, is now at the centre of a police investigation. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9am on Saturday, 24 February, 2024 a body was discovered in the Margaret Drive area of Motherwell.

“Officers are at the scene. The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.” It’s also reported the fire service were called to the scene.

The Scottish Record has reported the body to be female, but police have yet to confirm the gender.
