Tottenham news: Daniel Levy’s eye-watering salary towers over Man Utd and Liverpool chiefs | Football | Sport

The release of Tottenham’s financial results on Wednesday revealed that Levy earned a total annual salary package of £6.58million, with just under half of his remuneration made up of an ‘accrued bonus’.

Only a select few Premier League executives earn over £2m per year. United chief executive Arnold (£2.56m) and Liverpool chief Hogan (£2.24m) wouldn’t get close to Levy even if they combined their annual salaries, according to figures released by The Times.

Spurs’ latest financial statements confirm that Levy, whose association with the club began more than two decades ago, is once again the highest-earning executive in the English top flight.

Benefitting from a state-of-the-art stadium and a number of big-name players, Tottenham turned over £549.6m last season – an increase from the prior campaign of over £100m. The north Londoners’ wage bill also went through the roof, however.

For the first time since the mid-1990s, Spurs splashed more cash on player wages in a season than local rivals Arsenal. Overall, Spurs made an £86.8m loss, leaving them in the red for a fourth consecutive year.

James Maddison, Cristian Romero and Timo Werner are among the other wage bill heavyweights in north London. The likes of Richarlison, Micky van de Ven and Dejan Kulusevski all reportedly earn less on an annual basis than Levy did last season.

Despite losing money for a fourth year in a row, football finance experts do not predict trouble for Tottenham regarding the Premier League‘s Profit and Sustainability Rules, which have seen Everton and Nottingham Forest docked points this term.
