Reckless Vladimir Putin ignored UK’s urgent terror warnings before Moscow massacre | World | News
Vladimir Putin blanked British and American warnings of an imminent terrorist incident in Russia, on the same day plotters were casing the joint they would later attack.
At least 137 people were killed as four gunmen fired on a rock concert in a Moscow suburb.
Western intelligence agencies tipped off Russia that IS were planning an attack, a fortnight before Friday’s horrific incident at Crocus City Hall.
The Kremlin received the intelligence on March 7, the same day Shamsuddin Fariddun, suspected of being one of the attackers, was seen staking out the venue.
A photographer captured an image of the Tajik suspect and later recognised him on TV.
US and UK embassies had issued warnings of an attack on “large gatherings” in the Russian capital.
Analysts think that following the announcement, the terrorists paused their plans.
However, three days out from the incident at the concert hall in the western Krasnogorsk suburb of Moscow, Putin said of the warnings: “It resembles outright blackmail and the intention to intimidate and destabilise our society.”
Armed men later burst into the concert, shooting dozens dead, before setting the building alight.
Russia’s FSB security agents said 11 people in total were swiftly arrested, including the four main alleged attackers.
The FSB yesterday released stomach-churning videos of Putin’s spies torturing suspects. Despite protecting an image of a hard-hitting response, it fails to mask the security agencies’ failure to intercept the attack.
One of the suspects is fed his own sliced-off ear, while in a separate clip, Farridun is seen foaming at the mouth after allegedly being electrocuted via his genitals.
Two suspects, Dalerdzhon Barotovich Mirzoyev and Saidakrami Murodali Rachabalizoda, have since been seen being dragged into court blindfolded.
Both men appeared to have suffered a tremendous beating.
ISIS-K, an offshoot of IS, claimed responsibility for the attack, but Putin, who laid flowers for the victims at a church yesterday, said the terrorists had been “on their way to Ukraine” after preparing a “crossing point”.
President Zelensky branded Putin “scum” for trying to attach Ukraine to the incident and thanked those who refused to “let Russia deceive the world through propaganda and blackmail”.
