Prince Harry and William to reconcile ending feud as tired public unsympathetic | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Prince Harry reportedly told friends he would return to Britain to help with royal duties while his father undergoes cancer treatment.

The duke, 39, rushed back to the UK to visit King Charles following his diagnosis and the pair are believed to have had several « warm exchanges ».

It comes after Harry suggested in a TV interview with Good Morning America that his father’s illness could have a « reunifying effect » on the family.

PR expert Carla Speight has suggested the Royal Family should extend an olive branch to Harry following criticism he received since stepping down from his duties in 2020.

She suggested the public has grown « fatigued » by the public rift and a reconciliation with Prince William could be on the cards amid their ongoing strained relationship.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, she said: « If the royal family aren’t seen to mend the rift with Harry, they are risking the future of the monarchy.

« The public aren’t as sympathetic these days and have honestly reached a point in fatigue with all the drama insiders are providing. »

Harry and William did not reunite when he returned to the UK but sources said at the time the duke had been open to the idea.

In his autobiography Spare, Harry railed against his family, accusing his brother of pushing him onto a dog bowl in a rage with the claims made in his memoir said to have caused a strain in their relationship.

Sources have since claimed Harry will not be returning to the royal fold as his father, King Charles, undergoes cancer treatment.

Earlier this week, it was reported the Duke of Sussex – who is one of the monarch’s Counsellors of State – is willing to step into a temporary royal role.

Meanwhile, another source told the Telegraph that the arrangement Harry accepted when he stepped down as a working royal in 2020, is reportedly set to remain in place.

They said: « Those terms were quite clear, and the King’s illness hasn’t altered that. »

During his latest interview, the duke also said « I love my family » and that he was « grateful » to be able to spend time with his father when he flew back to the UK.
