Chelsea star Thiago Silva tells cameraman to go away before laying into Enzo Fernandez | Football | Sport

Thiago Silva told a cameraman to leave him alone after Chelsea‘s dramatic 3-2 win over Luton on Saturday. The Brazilian was not happy despite the victory and vented his frustration at team-mate Enzo Fernandez.

Chelsea just about held on to win back-to-back Premier League games. Mauricio Pochettino‘s side led 3-0 on 70 minutes after a fine Cole Palmer goal sealed the summer signing’s second of the afternoon.

Luton were the better team in the second half though and were determined not to give in. Elijah Adebayo had a goal ruled out by VAR for an offside in the build-up before they eventually pulled one back.

It was former Blue Ross Barkley who headed home from an Alfie Doughty corner. Adebayo then got his goal after Doughty’s header was only parried into the path of the striker by Chelsea keeper Djordje Petrovic.

Luton pushed for an equaliser but were unable to break through. The final whistle came as a relief to Chelsea but their defensive stalwart was not best pleased.

Silva stood alone in the centre circle, looking shocked at what he had seen from his team-mates in the final 20 minutes of the match. A lone cameraman was close by but the 39-year-old appeared to push the camera away and ask him to leave him alone.

Seconds later another camera picked up Silva remonstrating at Fernandez, with Conor Gallagher also nearby. Silva had his hands outstretched as he spoke to Fernandez, who only came on as a substitute in the 81st minute.

Co-commentator Lucy Ward noticed Silva’s emotion. She said: « He really won’t be happy. He defended really, really well. If they didn’t have him in there I think they’d struggle. He’s not happy about the camera around him either. » Fernandez appeared to take Silva’s criticism on the chin and put his arm around the Brazilian, with Silva doing so in kind as they slowly walked over towards the away support.

Pochettino was asked about Silva’s reaction when speaking to BT Sport after the match. But he had no problem with it, commenting: « But Thiago is like this, he has his character.

« The character of Thiago is he’s always moaning, he’s never happy. But that is good, he’s 39 years old and he’s still playing. Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, he’s so professional. »

Chelsea stay 10th in the table despite a second win in four days. Palmer opened the scoring with a fine left-footed strike in the 12th minute.

Noni Madueke fired his team into a 2-0 lead with his second goal in as many games. The Blues are next in action on Saturday in the FA Cup third round against Preston.
