Snooker scores: Ding defeats Trump to set up O’Sullivan UK Championship final | Other | Sport

After his win over Hossein Vafaei, Ronnie O’Sullivan admitted that one of his biggest motivations is not embarrassing himself on the table.

“One of the things for me is just going out there and embarrassing myself, » he told the BBC. « I don’t mind losing, it’s just embarrassing myself like missing balls. It’s fear, stagefright, whatever you want to call it.

« In practice it doesn’t matter but in matches you want to do yourself justice. Losing, winning, it’s all part and parcel of the sport we are involved in. It’s not a five-minute career it’s a long one, you brush with bad losses and they don’t matter really it’s just about doing myself justice. Am I feeling like I am enjoying it out there?

“It didn’t feel like that when he (Steve Davis) got out there! He was intent on winning so I know what I am saying probably doesn’t make sense to these guys, I wish I was more like Steve and Stephen (Hendry). Once he played so bad against me I felt so bad for him it was mad, I just want to play well.”
