Chef can’t live without cooking hack – ‘the best way to separate eggs’

Eggs are so versatile which means there are endless hacks out there to make cooking with them that little bit quicker.

One of which is a way to separate eggs that have taken TikTok fans and cooking experts alike by storm.

Shared by foodie influencer The Modern Nonna, also known as Sneji, the Bulgarian chef revealed how she slices cooked eggs with ease.

The TikTok star (@‌themodernnonna) credits her culinary knowledge to her grandmother, and it’s helped her garner some 1.2 million followers who enjoy her recipes and hacks just like this one.

But she admitted that this tip had taken her 33 years to come across despite now not being able to live without it.

In a video posted on her page, Sneji said: “In the 33 years of my life, why has no one told me that this is the best way to separate eggs? »

She even went as far as to brand it the « best hack ever” rating it a staggering 12 out of 10.

Demonstrating how it’s done, the influencer noted: « You simply insert a chef’s knife in the middle of a hard-boiled egg and gently roll the egg for the perfect cut. »

Despite the soft texture of the egg, the hack kept both the white and yolk perfectly intact with no crumbliness.

The video was a hit with other users of the social media platform, 1.9 million of which have viewed it.

One person was so impressed that they likened the extracted egg yolk to a “seed from an avocado”. Many other influencers on the app re-shared the tip, also admitted that they had only just stumbled across it after some 30 years.

Separating the cooked yolk from the egg white is useful for many things, one of which is to make devilled egg.

Simply mix the yolks into a bowl with mayonnaise, a teaspoon of English mustard, salt and paprika, then shake a few drops of Tabasco on top.

Stir and mash with a fork, or blitz with a stick blender before piping the tangy filling back into the hollowed whites.
