Israel under attack as Houthi launches ‘large batch of drones’ over border | World | News
Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels have launched a « large batch of drones » against « several targets » in Israel, according to the group’s spokesperson.
Earlier the Israeli military claimed to have intercepted what appeared to be a drone near the southern city of Eilat.
The IDF also reported that a missile had been shot down over the Red Sea on Tuesday. Neither of suspected missile nor the drone entered Israeli airspace, according to Israel defence officials.
Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for the incidents.
Iran is widely linked with the Houthi movement in Yemen which has been fighting against the Saudi-backed coalition in the country’s ongoing civil war.
Tehran is believed to have passed advanced military drone technology to the Houthis the group to strike deep into Saudi Arabia.
Earlier this week, a US Navy destroyer patrolling in the Red Sea intercepted missiles and drones launched towards Israel said to have also be fired by the Houthis.
