FC Barcelona unveiled their new signing, player Adama Traore, also known as ‘The Arrow,’ during a press conference in Barcelona on Wednesday ahead of his debut against Atletico Madrid, which is scheduled for Sunday.

Barca president Joan Laporta and club sporting adviser Jordi Cruyff posed with the striker during the press conference, holding the new signing’s blue and red shirt together.

« I’ve been away from home for seven years, I’m very happy to be back home, » said the player, after several seasons playing for various teams in the UK, such as Aston Villa and Middlesbrough, before joining Wolverhampton Wanderers. He is now on loan for FC Barcelona until the end of the season with an option for the Catalan team to buy.

The twenty-six-year-old returns home after working with some great coaches in England whom he is grateful for, having given him more experience. In particular, he highlighted the fact of having played in another league ‘more physical,’ ‘different to the Spanish one’ but ‘without ever losing the essence of Barca.’

« I’m happy to be back, happy to be back working with Laporta, with Xavi and I will work for Barca to succeed, » assured Traore.

His goals as a new FC Barcelona player include showing his talent, ‘which is one-on-one, the overflow, to try to unbalance, to try to score goals, as the president has said,’ but above all, ‘regardless of which team is in front of us, to try to win and go all out.’

SOT, Adama Traore, FC Barcelona player (Spanish): « First of all, I would like to thank the president for making this possible, then my family, my friends who are here, my physical trainer, my image coach and everyone who has been with me throughout this whole journey. I’ve been away from home for seven years, I’m very happy to be back here. And well, I will do everything I can and I will give my all so that the cules [Barcelona fans] and all those who are here are happy with me. From there, nothing more to say thank you, I’m very happy to be back home and nothing more, so let’s hope that on Sunday I can show my talent on the pitch. »

SOT, Adama Traore, FC Barcelona player (Spanish): « I think that physically I also have more experience, I think that the fact of playing in another league that is also different to the Spanish league, transitions back and forth, it is perhaps a little more physical than the Spanish league, I think I have learned a lot. And I’ve also had some great coaches, and I’d also like to thank the clubs I’ve played for in England. And from there, I’ve never lost the essence of Barca. I’m happy. »

SOT, Adama Traore, FC Barcelona player (Catalan): « I’m happy to be back, happy to be back working with Laporta, with Xavi and I will work for Barca to succeed. »

SOT, Adama Traore, FC Barcelona player (Spanish): « Well, what the coach has asked of me is what he has also asked of the wingers who are already here and from there, to show my talent, which is one on one, the overflow, to try to unbalance, to try to score goals, as the president has said. There are different things that the coach asks of us both defensively and offensively, but I could tell you details but the most important thing here is that we are competitive and regardless of which team is in front of us, try to win and go all out. »
