Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may have alienated support from the UK by « turning their back on the Queen ». Royal expert Camilla Tominey made the astonishing claim in a royal round-up during ITV’s This Morning programme. She said that there was a huge backlash among royal fans in the UK against the recent behaviour of Meghan and Harry.

Tominey told Holly Willoughby: « The Cambridges are doing their own thing during this pandemic.

« They’ve won plaudits for being extremely visible and taking part in countless Zoom calls.

« The Sussexes’ videos have not been brilliantly received in the UK.

« They have this impregnable fan base in the US, where they are much more sympathetic. »

Tominey said: « But there are people who are saying, they’ve turned their back on the Queen and country. »

She added that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s highly-anticipated launch of their Archewell charity in LA had become a “damp squib”.

The royal expert went on to tell ITV that the rift between Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s and Kate Middleton and Prince William have deteriorated recently.

She said the « final death knell » was the decision this week  from Harry and William to split funds from the Princess Diana Memorial Fund.

Tominey said: « Well, in a way as far as their charitable collaboration is concerned, the final death knell was sounded on the relationship in the winding up on both of their contributions to Diana Foundation.

“The brothers used that as a joint initiative to raise funds for their own charitable endeavours but now they say they’re going to siphon the funds off separately.

« This is actually quite symbolic. »

Ms Tominey added: « The idea that those Diana-related funds are now going in two different directions.

« We don’t really know whether brothers have particularly been in touch. »

The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, was created following the untimely death of their mother.

It was established in an effort to continue the legacy of Diana’s humanitarian work in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Half of the funds will go to William’s Royal Foundation while Harry has asked for his half to go to Sentebale, an HIV/AIDS organization set up in honor of his mother.
